Founded in 2018, Maison/Made is the product of the formulation talents of Carolina (chief formulator), coupled with the agricultural mind of Adrien (chief farmer). For over six centuries, Adrien’s family has maintained a farm in the rolling hills of Burgundy, France, where they grow the plants for their Maison Collection. Generation after generation have tended to this land until, eventually in 2017, the reins were passed on to Adrien and Carolina. To honor this heritage, they studied the soil and the traditional techniques that have provided for their family over the centuries and took the necessary steps to convert their farm and jardin to qualify for Biodynamic® approval. A trained cosmetic formulator, Carolina develops all the products, oversees the creative aspects of the brand, and is the embodiment of Maison/Made. With farming in his family history, Adrien manages the jardin and all the supply chain logistics and exclusive partnerships with Biodynamic® farms and producers.
Their decision to start Maison/Made was cemented in the knowledge that their actions impact the environment. Adrien and Carolina are keenly aware that skincare products require earthly resources; however, they are adamantly striving to put back more than they are taking from the earth. This principle guides their every business decision, starting with their formulations which, in turn, inform their farming strategy and methods, to sourcing ingredients and choosing sustainable packaging. By curating and fostering biodiversity in farming and sourcing, they have found a path to create a commercial entity that enables them to support the environment while working in harmony with nature. They spent over 3 years sourcing and commissioning the most potent Biodynamic® ingredients to create exquisite and sustainably farmed skincare products that are gentle: on both skin and soil.
